My name is Melissa Wright and I’m the assistant Youth Advisor for the Virginia Quarter Horse Youth Association. I just wanted to take a minute to thank you so much for everything you have done to help the Youth Association recently. Our raffle was wildly successful this past weekend at the Virginia Classic, and I know it was in large part because of your donation! We were thrilled as it was to have a 50x hat donation from you, but when we learned you would be donating a 100x hat, we were overwhelmed. I don’t show in the Western events, but I know how valuable these hats are and the winner was thrilled! It means a lot to our Youth members to see someone so willing to give and help them achieve their goals of attending YES Conference, Youth World, and Congress.
I also want to thank you specifically for your concern about Mary Huddleston and all that you’ve done in your work with cancer patients. Besides being one of our Youth members, Mary and her family have been long-time friends of mine and she is like a little sister to me. She is the type of person who you never see without a smile, even after finding out about cancer for the second time and losing her hair. Her strength through all of this is amazing, and seeing so many people supporting her, including yourself, means the world to her and her family. She is committed to continuing to show throughout her treatment and received chemo everyday this past weekend at the Classic.
Our Youth members had wanted to make a donation to Mary since learning that her cancer had returned, and the raffle we held helped them to give her $1,500 this past weekend. I know this would not have been possible without your donation. Thank you for everything you’ve done for our group, you mean so much to us!
